Public Health Practicum Program:

The short-term Internship program at the CVS-Tanzania provides an opportunity for the international university students to gain first-hand experiences in public health through practicum in Tanzania.

The program focuses on developing knowledge and skills to work with communities in addressing health needs and health disparities, and improving quality of life, this work requires skills in social and behavioral aspects of community health, monitoring and evaluation of community-based programs, community training methodologies, and leadership approaches to promote community health and well-being and health equity.

The experiences range from clinical work to fieldwork, Internship locations range from urban and rural regions in Tanzania.

Students learn the ins and outs of conducting research involving human subjects in a developing country, and gain practical experiences in areas such as research proposal writing, research tools development, data collection, data analysis and dissemination of findings.

The internship program covers a minimum of 6-8 weeks, between June and August of every year.

Learning Objectives:

The general objectives of the internship program are to provide university students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in a professional setting and to gain new experiences and exposure that will be informative of their career plans. Specific learning objectives for individual interns will be created upon their acceptance into the program, and will be in accordance with their specific areas of interest

Eligibility:

Outstanding undergraduate students, in their second or third year, with an interest in public health research are encouraged to apply.
